Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge compared US President Donald Trump to dictators Hitler and Mussolini, criticising US actions in Venezuela and Trump’s alleged attempts to intimidate global leaders. Kharge also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of yielding to Trump’s demands regarding Russian oil purchases, citing a film dialogue to illustrate the prime minister’s perceived subservience to the US leader. “What is happening in Venezuela today is not good for the world. Trump is trying to frighten people across the globe,” Kharge told reporters in Delhi, referring to the US military action in Venezuela that led to the ouster of Maduro. The Venezuelan leader and his wife were then takento New York to face multiple charges, primarily related to narco-terrorism.
